Grand Rapids, Mich. - Cornerstone Athletics is proud to recognize Larry Bos as an inductee of the NAIA Hall of Fame Meritorious Service Award, honoring his more than four decades of dedicated service to Cornerstone, the NAIA, intercollegiate athletics and the WHAC.
The NAIA Hall of Fame Award is the association's highest honor. The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals of outstanding quality who demonstrate high moral character, exceptional leadership ability, and the respect of their colleagues, former coaches, and former athletes. The award includes athlete and coach categories for each sport currently or formerly sponsored by the NAIA, as well as a category for general meritorious service.
Larry served in various capacities at Cornerstone beginning in 1970 and was inducted into the Cornerstone Athletics Hall of Honor in 2004. He began serving as the school's Faculty Athletics Representative in 1990 and continued do that through 2016. He served as Chair of the NAIA Faculty Athletics Representative Association. He served 3 terms on the Council of FAR's and 2 years on the NAIA Hall of Fame selection committee. He was honored with the NAIA Wally Schwartz FAR of the Year award in 2015. Larry was an associate professor of business administration for 40 years at Cornerstone, now works as the Assistant Commissioner of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference where he has been since 2014. He was also the eligibility chair for the WHAC and a member of CFAR. Larry was also a founding member of the WHAC and served on the executive council. He has been a trusted asset and resource across most areas of NAIA governance and membership. He is currently serving on the NAIA Membership Committee. When looking at the history of changes to the NAIA's bylaws, chances are Larry's input was part of the decision. Larry has always prioritized the right decision over the popular decision, operating with a level of integrity and professionalism that has bettered the organizations he has served. He has helped numerous institutions transfer to the NAIA, helping guide them through the transition process and eligibility requirements and assisting with anything else they may need.
Larry is known across the industry for his depth of knowledge, perspective, and willingness to invest his time. He is an educator, an advocate for student-athletes, and a mentor to many. His commitment to student-athletes has shaped the way eligibility and institutional responsibility are approached.
