Spring Arbor, Mich. – Women's soccer, after beginning the season 3-0, faced off against a top 20 side in #19 Spring Arbor. The first half was busy for the Cougars, as an early goal in the 8th minute put them up 1-0 over Cornerstone. Spring Arbor was able to add a second goal to the board before halftime, holding a strong lead over the Golden Eagles. The 73rd minute of the game saw Brooke Harmsen's chance break down the Spring Arbor defense, as Cornerstone put one on the board with less than 20 left to play. The Cougars remained on top for the rest of the match but the Golden Eagles proved themselves a competitive side against a top ranked opponent, despite losing the match 2-1. The Golden Eagles travel down to Mishawaka, Ind. to take on the Pilots of Bethel University on September 9, at 5 p.m. at Morey Field.

The first shot of the game forced the first save of the game from Corinne McGlassion in the 1st minute of play.

Off of an early attack, the Cougars found the back of the net to go up 1-0 in the 8th minute.

The Golden Eagles did not back down, as Ally Merrihew sent a shot flying towards goal that forced a save from the Cougars' goalkeeper in the 14th minute.

The second goal of the game went Spring Arbor's way, as they went up 2-0 in the 20th minute.

Corinne McGlassion made another save to keep the Spring Arbor tally from rising any higher in the 27th minute. The score remained 2-0.

Madeline Billings ripped a shot that was just saved by Spring Arbor, denying Cornerstone the breakthrough.

The first half came to a close with Cornerstone down 2-0 to the Cougars.

Another early save from Corinne McGlassion held the door closed on any more Cougar goals in the 50th minute of play.

The first yellow card of the match saw its way out of the official's pocket to a Spring Arbor player in the 63rd minute.

Brooke Harmsen had a go at goal in the 66th minute of the game, but it went just high.

Cornerstone finally got their breakthrough goal in the 73rd minute, as Brooke Harmsen's chance found its way to the back of the net, her second goal of the season, which put Cornerstone on the board but still trailing 2-1.

The 75th minute shot from Jada VanNoord was denied by the goalkeeper as Cornerstone kept knocking on the door on #19 in the country.

Corinne McGlassio made four more saves to keep her team within reach of Spring Arbor, but the match came to its close with Spring Arbor earning the win at home 2-1 over Cornerstone.
