Box Score LIMA Ohio – The men's soccer team ran into a buzz-saw on Saturday afternoon as the host UNOH Racers handed the Golden Eagles a 6-0 setback. The Racers scored three times in each half to drop Cornerstone to 3-8-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in WHAC play. CU will return to action on Wednesday, October 22 when they face Lawrence Tech in Southfield.
The host Northwestern Ohio Racers extended their winning streak to five matches thanks to a fast start and strong open to the second half. UNOH scored just 3:52 into the match and then added a second less than five minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
After CU threatened with a couple chances in the UNOH box, the Racers countered with their third of the match with just 20 seconds to play in the opening half.
The lead continued to grow in the second when the Racers put up two goals in a six minute stretch and then an own-goal by CU made the final of 6-0.
Nick Hopkins (SO/Ada, Mich.) made seven saves in net for the Golden Eagles as they will return to action on Wednesday in an important WHAC matchup at Lawrence Tech. Match time is set for 3 p.m. in Soutfield.
