Box Score BRIGHTON, Mich. – Caleb Colp (FR/Stevensville, Mich.) scored a pair of goals and Nick Hopkins (SO/Ada, Mich.) finished with his fourth shutout of the season in net as the duo led the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 win at UM-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon. The victory, which is the first in the last five matches, lifts CU to 4-9-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in league play. Cornerstone will host No. 1 Davenport on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Golden Eagles made their way to Brighton today to continue league play and they ended a 4-match losing streak and got an important three points with a 3-0 win over UM-Dearborn.
Cornerstone struck twice in the opening ten minutes of play as Caleb Colp scored at the 6:10 mark and 9:11 mark to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. That score would hold until halftime as CU outshot the Wolverines 13-3 in the first 45 minutes.
CU then added to the lead just 20 minutes into the second half when Josh Piovesan (FR/Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.) put away a ball from Garrett Nimmo (SO/Livonia, Mich.) to put the visitors up 3-0.
Nick Hopkins finished with three saves in the match as the sophomore improves to 4-9-1 in net on the year. Cornerstone will return to action on Wednesday, October 22 when they host NAIA No. 1 ranked Davenport University at 7 p.m.
