Balanced scoring lifts No. 11 Men’s Basketball to 80-59 win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Five players reached double-figures led by freshman Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.)'s 14 as the No. 11 ranked men's basketball team posted an 80-59 win over Grace Bible on Thursday evening. The Golden Eagles are now 1-0 on the season as they will welcome Kuyper College to Mol Arena on Saturday in the home opener for Cornerstone. Game time is set for 3 p.m. and can be viewed live on the Golden Eagle Sports Network.

Game Flow
Cornerstone was playing their first game of the season while the Tigers their third and it showed early as the home team hung right with the Golden Eagles. It wasn't until back to back buckets, including a thunderous two-handed dunk from freshman Kyle Steigenga, that broke a 6-6 tie and CU was off to the races.

After leading 41-33 at the break, Cornerstone used an 18-4 run to open the second half and they never looked back, leading by as many as 25 midway through the closing half.

By the Numbers
~ Kyle Steigenga led the team in points (14) and rebounds (9) while Eric Readman (SO/Fenton, Mich.) dished out a game high six assists in the victory.

~ Cory Cox (SO/Flushing, Mich.) (13), Michael McLaughlin (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) (12), Travis Wells (JR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.) (11) and Ty Mason (SR/Comstock Park, Mich.) (10) all finished in double-figures for the Golden Eagles.

~ Cornerstone had 21 assists on 29 made field goals

~ CU forced the Tigers into 20 turnovers

~ Cornerstone won by 21 points despite shooting a dismal 59% from the line (13-22)
