Concordia scored just 7:42 into the contest when a ball squirted through CU keeper Nick Hopkins (SO/Ada, Mich.)' hands and Max Monton put his first goal of the season on the board. Then just under seven minutes later, CUAA doubled their lead on a lofted ball over the outstretched arms of Hopkins.
CU did cut the margin to a single goal when the Concordia keeper was called for a foul inside the box and senior Tristan Esprit put away the penalty kick with 28:07 to play in the opening half. A few chances late in the first half were just off the mark and the Cardinals went into the break up 2-1.
They upped their lead to 3-1 just 3:24 into the second on another ball that got by the keeper in the wet and muddy box and that score would remain the same as time ran out.
The Golden Eagles will look to rebound on Wednesday when they face Madonna in Livonia at 4 p.m.
