Cox posts 27 points in 93-79 win at Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – Sophomore Cory Cox (SO/Flushing, Mich.) posted a career high 27 points while freshman Kyle Steigenga (FR/Holland, Mich.) had a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as the duo led the Golden Eagles to a 93-79 road win at Siena Heights. The loss is the first of the year for the Saints in conference play while CU improves to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will participate in the GR Sports Hall of Fame Classic this weekend at Aquinas beginning Friday against Hope.



Game Flow
The first nine minutes of the game saw four lead changes a pair of ties but after trailing 14-17, the Golden Eagles used a 17-6 run over a span of 3:56 to take a 31-23 lead. Highlighting the run was 10 points from Cory Cox with the run finished off by a 3-pointer from the sophomore wing who got his first start of the season.

After leading by 14 at the break, Cornerstone struggled in the opening 10 minutes of the second and saw the Saints cut the lead down to just five with 7:55 to play. After the Golden Eagles upped their lead back to double-figures, freshman Kyle Steigenga helped put away the home team by scoring nine of his team's 11 points in route to the 14-point win.
