LIMA, Ohio – The first time Cornerstone and UNOH met, the host Racers posted a 6-0 win but on Saturday, the Golden Eagles gave the home team everything they could handle in an eventual 2-1 loss. The setback ends the 2014 campaign for head coach Mark Bell and his team as they conclude the season 6-12-1.

Back on October 11, Cornerstone fell behind 3-0 at half and then the Golden Eagles allowed three more in the second for a 6-0 setback to the Racers.

Saturday proved a much different story as the Golden Eagles battled to the very end against one of the best teams in the country. Northwestern Ohio, ranked No. 17 in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll, scored early to take a 1-0 lead and then added to it in the 40' taking a 2-0 lead into the break.

CU then responded with their backs to the wall as they cut the lead in half in the 60' on a beautiful header from Kevin Nimmo (FR/Livonia, Mich.) on a perfectly placed ball from Tristan Esprit (SR/Toronto, Ontario). The final 30 minutes were exciting as CU created a few great chances but could not get one by First Team All-WHAC goalkeeper Liam Davies as the Racers escaped with a 2-1 win.

The win advances UNOH to next week's WHAC Semi-Finals as it ends the 2014 campaign for the Golden Eagles.
