Men's Tennis Beats Judson 8-1

For the third time in their first 4 matches, the Cornerstone men's tennis team took a match clinching 5-0 lead, this time against the Eagles of Judson University.

Cornerstone jumped up on Judson quickly, taking the 3 doubles matches, with the only scare coming at #2 Doubles who found themselves down a break 5-4, but won the next 4 games to win 8-5.  In singles, Santiago Mackrey won first at #4 Singles 6-1, 6-0 and Austin Hunt wasn't far behind, winning 6-3, 6-0 to clinch the team match.  In further action, Elijah Yi continued his impressive start at #1 Singles, winning 6-1, 6-1, Austin Hendrick cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win.  There were 2 competitive singles matches, with Andrew Son coming up victorious 1-6, 6-1, (10-5) and Sam Ottosen falling 5-7, 6-4, (10-5).

Up next for Cornerstone is the very important Night of Nets match against Bethel College on Friday September 26 at 2:30 pm at Northpointe Christian High School.  Night of Nets is becoming a CU tradition and is sweeping to schools all over the country to raise funds to stamp out malaria.  Malaria kills over 700,000 children under the age of 5 every year, but is entirely preventable simply through the use of inexpensive mosquito nets.  Please join us for this match and help support this wonderful cause.  For more information, please visit cunightofnets.com.
