Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's soccer team opened up their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate today with a 0-0 draw against rival Aquinas College. The fifth overtime match for the team this season ended in a draw for the first time as they are now 2-5-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in league play. CU will return home Wednesday to face Siena Heights at 7 p.m.

Aquinas came into the match as one of the top scoring teams in the country led by Aldony Mendez who ranks second individually with 13 goals but it was the CU defense that stepped up.

Nick Hopkins led the Golden Eagles with 6 saves (2 of which came in the 2nd OT) in between the posts.

The Golden Eagles did finish the day with 6 shots (3 from Gareth Flynn) while Aquinas had 6 total shots on goal.

Cornerstone will look for their first conference win when they host Siena Heights on Wednesday at 7 p.m.  That will be "Night of Nets" for the men's soccer team.  A suggested donation of $6 will purchase one bed net to send to Africa.  Click here to see more information.
