Golden Eagles defeat Lourdes 3-0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Head coach Ryan Campbell and his Golden Eagles finished the week with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Lourdes University as CU won going away 25-20, 25-23, 25-15. The victory lifts Cornerstone to 14-5 on the year and 5-3 in league action as they will host Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

After picking up a 3-0 win over Indiana Tech on Friday night, the volleyball team carried the momentum into Saturday to post a sweep of Lourdes. It was the first meeting against the Gray Wolves since they upset CU in the WHAC tourney a year ago.Cornerstone controlled the play on offense and defense as they limited the visitors to a dismal -.043 hitting percentage highlighted by 11 team blocks by the Golden Eagles.

CU was paced on offense by 11 kills from Megan Newhouse while Heather Green and Cailie Schultz each finished with four. Chelsea Lake (11) and Hope Leppink (8) combined for 19 assists while Amber Carmean had nine digs.

CU will stay at home on Wednesday and host Northwestern Ohio at 7 p.m.
