Women's Tennis Lose Double Header to St. Francis, Huntington

The Cornerstone Women's Tennis team traveled to Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday to play a double header against St. Francis & Huntington.

The morning match against St. Francis was moved indoors because of weather conditions.  Due to limited court time, the decision was made to play the match only to the 5 points needed for one team to win the overall team match.  Cornerstone started down 2-0, as they were still without regular #1 Heidi Boesl due to injury, and therefore had to forfeit a singles and a doubles court.  The CU women put up a spirited effort, but ultimately dropped both doubles courts to fall down 4-0 headed into singles.  The top 3 singles matches of Janie Silvers, Allison Rusticus, and Ashley Greene went on first.  Allison Rusticus lost a tough match at #2 to end the overall team match.

In the afternoon, the ladies travelled to Huntington University to take on the Forresters, and there luck did not improve there, dropping all of the matches to fall 9-0.

Cornerstone is up next at the ITA Regional tournament on September 11-13 in Grand Rapids.
