GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the second time this season, the Cornerstone men's basketball team went over the century mark as they defeated visiting Marygrove College 101-58 on Saturday afternoon. The No. 10 ranked Golden Eagles put up 50-plus points in each half to improve to 14-4 on the season and 8-2 in the WHAC. CU will head across town to face Aquinas on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Game Flow

The opening half was all Cornerstone as they raced out to a quick 8-0 lead and went on to score 52 points in the first 20 minutes of play. After the 8-0 run to start, Marygrove did counter with a 6-0 spurt but then the Golden Eagles flexed their muscles and used a 29-5 run that covered 9:06 of game clock to blow the game wide open.

The lead continued to grow early in the second half as head coach Kim Elders was able to get quality minutes for each of his 12 players on the roster and they saw many of the reserves post solid games including Tyler Smith (SO/Zeeland, Mich.) with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
