SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Cornerstone volleyball team got back on the winning track with a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday in the first of three WHAC Crossovers. The Golden Eagles opened the day with a 25-23, 25-12, 25-8 victory over Marygrove and finished it with a 25-11, 25-21, 25-17 victory over Lawrence Tech. CU, now 18-7 overall and 11-4 in the WHAC, heads to Adrian on Wednesday to face Siena Heights.
Match 1 - Cornerstone 3, Marygrove 0 – 25-23, 25-12, 25-8
The opening match of the day saw Cornerstone take down Marygrove in straight sets. After a slow start that saw the Golden Eagles squeak out a 2-point win, CU cruised in the final two while only allowing 20 combined points.
Kendra Zwart (FR/Jenison, Mich.) had a team high 11 kills while Murphy Heyer (SR/Rockford, Mich.) had seven kills with zero errors as she was one of six players to hit above the .400 mark.
Match 2 – Cornerstone 3, Lawrence Tech 0 – 25-11, 25-21, 25-17
Cornerstone finished off a season sweep of the Blue Devils and made it a perfect 2-0 day at LTU with a straight sets win. CU opened the match with a dominating 25-11 win and followed it with 25-21 and 25-17 victories for the sweep.
Individual leaders for Cornerstone were Murphy Heyer (10 kills), Hope Leppink (SO/Holland, Mich.) (32 assists), Megan Newhouse (SR/Grand Haven, Mich.) (11 digs) and Kendra Zwart (five blocks).

- Cornerstone remains in sole possession of third place in the WHAC at 11-4 overall
- The Golden Eagles have three more duals left in league play and two more crossovers

Cornerstone will head to Siena Heights for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Saints on Wednesday.
