GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With two key road matches on the slate against teams right next to them in the WHAC standings, the men's soccer team was unable to overcome a fast start by No. 3 Davenport today as they fell 4-1 to the Panthers. The loss drops CU to 7-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will play at Marygrove on Saturday afternoon.
Game Flow…
Needing to get off to a good start against the defending NAIA National Champion Panthers, the Golden Eagles fell behind 1-0 in just the fourth minute and then saw DU add two more in the opening half for a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
CU's offense played much better early in the second and created some opportunities but they were unable to put a tally on the board and DU's aggressive style put a fourth goal on the board with about 20 minutes to go. Cornerstone did get one back in the final six minutes of play when Diego Bobadilla (SR/Holland, Mich.) connected on a pass from Richard Areche (FR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Repub).

- Cornerstone managed just three shots with two of them coming from Bobadilla
- The loss comes as just the second in league play as CU is 5-2-1
- CU will look to stay in third place in the league standings on Saturday when they play at Marygrove
