Two first half goals the difference at Marygrove

DETROIT, Mich. – The host Mustangs of Marygrove put up a pair of goals in the opening half and that was all the scoring on the afternoon as they handed Cornerstone a 2-0 setback. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to fourth in the WHAC standings at 7-8-1 overall and 5-3-1 in league play. CU will host Lourdes on Wednesday in their regular season home finale.

Game Flow…
In a battle of the two teams tied for third in the WHAC standings, it was the home Mustangs who jumped out early and then added a late first half goal for a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.
Cornerstone mustered just one shot on goal throughout the match as they were outshot 10-7 total by Marygrove. CU did create some opportunities in the second half but the back line for the Mustangs was strong to preserve the shutout.
