94-41 win over Spring Arbor evens men’s hoops record

MARION, ind. – After suffering a tough 5-point loss on the road at No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan Friday night, the No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles made a big statement Saturday as they handed Spring Arbor a 94-41 loss. Ben Lanning (SR/Grandville, Mich.) scored a game high 29 points to help Cornerstone improve to 1-1 on the year as CU will return to action next Friday at No. 4 ranked Saint Francis (Ind.).



Game Flow
From the opening tip to the closing buzzer, Cornerstone was in full control as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead forcing the Cougars into a quick timeout. That lead continued to grow into the half as CU connected on almost double the field goals as Spring Arbor (16-9). 

Leading 46-24 coming out of the locker room, Cornerstone rattled off 27 of the first 32 points to take a commanding 44 point lead. That margin grew to over 50 by the time the game was done as the Golden Eagles won by 53 points.

Up Next
Cornerstone will stay on the road for their next two games as they head to Saint Francis to battle the NAIA No. 4 ranked Cougars in Fort Wayne next Friday at 8 p.m. CU will then face Huntington on Saturday at USF at 1 p.m.
