GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Megan Newhouse (SR/Grand Haven, Mich.) led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills while the defense shut down the Saints' offense in a 3-0 win on Wednesday night vs. Aquinas. The victory lifts Cornerstone to 16-6 on the year while they are now 9-3 in the WHAC. CU has the weekend off as they will return to action next Wednesday at Madonna.
How it Happened…
In their only match of the week, Cornerstone came out hot, staved off a strong second from Aquinas and finished off the Saints with a dominating third set. CU won by the scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-14 to post the season sweep over their cross-town rivals.
The offense was very dynamic in the first and third sets for the Golden Eagles and head coach Ryan Campbell as they hit .286 to open which included a 5-0 run to start the match They finished of the Saints with a .226 percentage in the third while holding AQ to a -.139.

- Megan Newhouse was the lone player for either team to reach double-figure kills with 11
- Chelsea Lake (SR/Lake Odessa, Mich.) (9) and Johanna Egerer (SR/Plymouth, Wisc.) (7) were the other leaders on offense for CU
- Chelsea Lake (17) and Amber Carmean (SR/Fruitport, Mich.) (16) led the CU defense in digs
- Cornerstone finished the night with 8.0 team blocks as all but one front-row player finished with at least one block assist

Cornerstone will have the weekend off before heading to Madonna next Wednesday for a matchup with the Crusaders.
