GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 2015 senior class ended their stay inside Mol Arena with a sweep as Cornerstone downed Northwestern Ohio 25-19, 25-17, 25-15. The victory lifts CU to 24-10 on the year and 13-7 in league play as they will close the regular season on Saturday at Indiana Tech in the final of three WHAC Crossovers.
How it Happened…
Cornerstone jumped out to a big lead in the opener and hung on for the 25-19 win but had to rally from down in each of the last two sets but made quick work once they got the lead to post the sweep of the Racers.
The second set saw Cornerstone take a 10-10 tie and make it 17-13. Then after leading 21-17, the Golden Eagles ran off the final four points with two kills from Chelsea Lake (SR/Lake Odessa, Mich.), a Racer error and a Megan Newhouse (SR/Grand Haven, Mich.) service ace. Cu then completed the sweep by posting a .516 hitting percentage (17 kills, 1 error on 31 attempts) in the final set.
Looking at Stats…
- Chelsea Lake had 12 kills while hitting at a .632 clip
- Megan Newhouse led the way with 13 kills
- Hope Leppink (SO/Holland, Mich.) finished with 38 assists
- Amber Carmean (SR/Fruitport, Mich.) had the team lead with 12 digs

Cornerstone will head to Indiana Tech for the final crossover of the regular season as they face the host Warriors at Noon and Concordia at 3 p.m.
