GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Ban Lanning hit a pair of free-throws with 3.0 seconds remaining to put Cornerstone up 60-59 but Aquinas hit a 40-foot shot at the buzzer to upset the Golden Eagles on their home floor 62-60. The loss is the first at home for CU since February 19, 2014 as CU falls to 8-2 on the year and 3-1 in WHAC play. Cornerstone will look to rebound on Saturday when they face UM-Dearborn at 3 p.m. on the road.

Game Flow
In a poor shooting first half by both teams, it was a late run by the Saints to put them up 26-24 with under 30 seconds to play. After a timeout, CU ran a set play to get a layup from Michael McLaughlin (JR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) and the teams would head to the locker room tied 26-26.

Cornerstone then came out on fire in the second as they scored the first eight points but the Saints came right back with nine straight of their own and neither team led by more than even (46-39 CU with 10:52) for the remainder of the game. Aquinas charged back after trailing by seven and took a 59-56 lead with 2:07 to play. After a Joey Blauwkamp (JR/Grandville, Mich.) layup and defensive stop for CU, Ben Lanning (SR/Grandville, Mich.) was fouled on a putback with 3.0 seconds to play and the senior knocked down both shots to give CU a 60-59 lead.

After numerous timeouts by the two teams, Aquinas ran one last play and Jake Bullock hit a 40-foot shot at the buzzer to hand CU just their second home loss in their last 32 games inside Mol Arena.

Say What?
"It's a difficult loss because we did not play our basketball. We did at times, but give Aquinas credit and their shooter made an incredibly difficult shot at the buzzer." – Head coach Kim Elders

By the Numbers
17 – Points from Kyle Steigenga (SO/Holland, Mich.) as he was 7/14 from the field
15 – Rebounds for Ben Lanning
12 – Just 12 combined turnovers between the two teams – six on each side
41-40 – CU was outrebounded for the second time this season – both losses for the Golden Eagles
