DEARBORN, Mich. – Kyle Steigenga (SO/Holland, Mich.) and Ben Lanning (SR/Grandville, Mich.) combined for 46 points and 17 rebounds to lead the No. 2 ranked Golden Eagles to a 94-78 road win at UM-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon. The five CU starters combined for 79 points as the Golden Eagles improve to 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in league play. Cornerstone will host Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, December 12 in their next game.
Game Flow
The scoring came early and often for the Golden Eagles as they connected on 56% of their shots in the opening half with Ben Lanning leading the way with 14 and Sam Vander Sluis (FR/Holland, Mich.) finishing with eight off the bench. The lead grew even larger into the early parts of the second half as CU pushed it to as many as 27 in first five minutes as Kyle Steigenga scored four of his game high 23.
The Wolverines did not roll over down the stretch as their offense had its way at times to get the lead back down to 17 but CU finished strong for another double-digit win.
