ALBION, Mich.| The Cornerstone Men's Tennis team traveled to Albion College today to play their first dual match of the spring season. Coming off an 8-0 start in the fall, the CU Men shook off the almost 5 month break and continued their winning ways, picking up the 9-0 win, which seems fitting as it moves the team to 9-0 on the season.
Doubles Highlights
At #1 Doubles, Austin Hunt & Elijah Yi jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before slowing down and holding on for an 8-5 win. At #2 Doubles, Sam Ottosen & Austin Hendrick cruised to an 8-2 win, and the #3 Doubles team of Andrew Son & Santiago Mackrey wasted little time in their 8-0 victory.
Singles Highlights
Cornerstone started out slow in singles, struggling to adjust to the lightning quick Albion courts. Still, Cornerstone claimed all 6 matches, with the limited drama occuring on courts 1 & 5 where both Elijah Yi & Austin Hunt dropped a set before closing out their matches in 3rd set tie-breakers.
What's Next
Cornerstone Tennis next travels to Orlando, FL for their annual spring break trip where they will play 6 dual matches. Up first for the Golden Eagles is (RV) Southeastern University who has gotten off to a fast start this spring.
