MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Traveling over to the other side of Lake Michigan did not bring a great end result for the Cornerstone Men's Tennis team as they suffered some close match defeats in their first loss of the season. CU falls to 15-1 on the year with a 6-3 setback to Cardinal Stritch and will return to action next Saturday in their WHAC opener at Lawrence Tech.
Doubles Highlights: The host Wolves got the early edge in the match as they pulled out a close 8-6 decision at No. 1 and an 8-4 result at No. 3. Cornerstone managed to get one point on the board behind the play of Samuel Ottosen and Austin Hendrick (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) as they won 9-7 at No. 2.
Singles Highlights: Needing to win four of the six matches to take the victory, CU suffered four straight set losses in singles while picking up a pair of wins from Ottosen (6-3, 6-4) at No. 2 and reigning WHAC Player of the Week Santiago Mackrey (SO/Balcarce, ARG) at No. 4 (1-6, 7-6, 10-8).
