GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's tennis team returned to action for the first time since falling to cross-town rival Davenport but they were unable to overcome a slow start as they fell to Indiana Tech 8-1. The setback drops the Golden Eagles to 16-4 on the season and 1-3 in league action. CU will return to play on Tuesday when they play at Aquinas.
Doubles Highlights: The doubles play set the stage for the match and Indiana Tech came away with a pair of close wins to take the air out of Cornerstone. CU fell by the scores of 8-6 (No. 3 doubles – Mackrey/Son) and 9-7 (No. 2 doubles – Ottosen/Hendrick).
Singles Highlights: Austin Hendrick (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) then came up big for Cornerstone in singles as the freshman won the lone point of the match for CU winning 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. Austin Hunt (JR/Odessa, Texas.) fell in a very close match at No. 3 singles as the junior fell in three sets.
What's Next? The Golden Eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they play at Aquinas College.
