Women’s Tennis defeats Concordia 7-2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone got a busy week started with an impressive 7-2 win over Concordia on Monday afternoon. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 5-11 overall and 3-1 in league play. CU will travel to Aquinas on Tuesday for the second of a four match week that also sees them travel to Grace (Ind.) and Northwestern Ohio.

Doubles Highlights: Cornerstone split the two matches that were played as Concordia had to forfeit the third court. CU got an 8-6 win behind the play of Nicole Huizenga (FR/St. John, IN) and Rachel Kono to head into singles up 2-1.

Singles Highlights: Cornerstone then dominated the singles play winning courts 2-6. Janie Silvers (SR/Cadillac, Mich.) won at No. 2 – 7-6, 7-5, Allison Rusticus (SR/Byron Center, Mich.) at No. 3 – 6-1, 6-0, Ashley Greene (JR/Rockford, Mich.) at No. 4 – 6-1, 6-0 and Nicole Huizenga at No. 5 – 6-4, 6-3.

What's Next? The Golden Eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they play at Aquinas College.
