MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A Pilot goal in the 63' minute was the only tally of the match as Cornerstone fell on the road to Bethel College in their season opener on Wednesday night. The loss sends the Golden Eagles back to Grand Rapids in search of their first win when they will host Goshen College (Ind.) on Saturday night at 8 p.m.



 

Game Flow
Cornerstone controlled the play for most of the first half and for a good portion come out of halftime as they held a 7-1 shots advantage until the Pilots broke through in the 63' to get the lone goal of the match. CU tried to rally late to get the equalizer but the Pilot goalkeeper came up with a pair of solid saves to blank the Golden Eagles.

Nick Hopkins (JR/Ada, Mich.) had a solid night in net for CU as the junior posted six saves.

- Cornerstone outshot the Pilots 6-1 in the opening 45 but was outshot 11-2 in the closing 45
- Kevin Nimmo (SO/Livonia, Mich.) led CU with three shots and tied Mark Rougas (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) with two on net
- Cornerstone posted the only three corner kicks of the game with two coming in the first half

Cornerstone will come back for their home opener that is this Saturday at 8 p.m. against Goshen College (Ind.).
