GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Since opening their home slate with a tough 3-1 setback to No. 17 Madonna, the Cornerstone volleyball team has ripped off three consecutive sweeps after tonight's 3-0 win over Siena Heights. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 7-3 on the season and 4-1 in the WHAC. CU will resume play this weekend at the Olivet Nazarene tournament as live stats will be provided for all four matches.
How it Happened…
In a key early season matchup against one of the upstart teams in the conference, the Golden Eagles made quick work of the visiting Saints in the first two sets as they won 25-14 and 25-8. SHU did rally back in the third but Cornerstone fought back from a 21-20 deficit to win 25-23.
Cornerstone once again had a very balanced offense led by Chelsea Lake (SR/Lake Odessa, Mich.)'s 11 kills on 32 attempts (.312 hitting percentage). She was followed by eight kills from Ellie Van Laar (SO/Hudsonville, Mich.) while Heather Green (SO/Anchorage, Alaska) and Murphy Heyer (SR/Rockford, Mich.) each had six.
