GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With two big regional matches on the schedule for the weekend, the men's tennis team got it started with a 6-3 win over Huntington on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles used a 2-1 edge after doubles and walked away with four wins in singles to post their second win of the season over a Crossroads League foe. CU will host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday at 1p.m. at MVP Sportsplex
Doubles Highlights: Cornerstone took a pair of points in doubles as they got wins from the second and third courts. The Golden Eagles won at No. 2 behind the play of Austin Hendrick (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Sam Ottosen (SO/Cairns, AUS) (8-4) and followed with a win at No. 3 behind Santiago Mackrey (JR/Balcarce, ARG) and Andrew Son (SR/Keller, Texas) (8-2).
Singles Highlights: Needing only three points to clinch the match, Cornerstone went on to win four singles points for the 6-3 win. The Foresters did get a pair of points on the top two courts but CU posted wins from Hendrick (6-2, 6-3), Mackrey (6-0, 6-2), Austin Hunt (SR/Odessa, Texas.) (6-2, 6-1) and Son (6-4, 6-0).
What's Next? The Golden Eagles will host Olivet Nazarene on Saturday at 1 p.m. over at MVP Sportsplex.
