CHICAGO, Ill. – Looking to extend their winning streak to three matches, the Cornerstone men's soccer team was unable to convert any offense into goals today as they fell to Saint Xavier (Ill.) 1-0. The Cougars scored with just under 15 minutes to play to drop CU to 2-2-0 on the season. Cornerstone will resume play on Friday at the Spring Arbor tournament as they begin with a 7 p.m. match against Grace College (Ind.).
Game Flow...
The majority of the match was played between the 18's and each team had adequate chances but it was not until the 76:37 mark that a player found the back of the net as SXU's Ricardo Aldape hit one in from 35 yards out.
Cornerstone put up five shots in each half but only four of those came on net while limiting the home Cougars to 11 total shots (five on net). Nick Hopkins (JR/Ada, Mich.) played splid in net for the Golden Eagles as he finished with four saves and now has only allowed two goals in the team's first four matches.

- Caleb Colp (SO/Stevensville, Mich.) and David Mutembezi (FR/Brampton, Ontario) led the Golden Eagles with two shots apiece

What's on Tap?...
Cornerstone will stay away from their home pitch when they travel to Spring Arbor on Friday for a 7 p.m. match against Grace College. CU will then play the host Cougars on Saturday at the same time.
