DETROIT, Mich. – Cornerstone got a combined 60 points from big men Sam Vander Sluis (FR/Holland, Mich.), Ben Lanning (SR/Grandville, Mich.) and Kyle Steigenga (SO/Holland, Mich.) as they routed Marygrove on their home floor 11-62. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 12-3 on the season and 7-1 in the WHAC as they are now tied in the regular season standings with Aquinas, Indiana Tech and Davenport. CU heads to Indiana Tech on Wednesday before hosting Davenport Saturday.
Game Flow
In a game where the offense was relatively easy to come by, five different players reached double-figures led by sophomore Kyle Steigenga with 24 points. Fellow Holland Christian graduate Sam Vander Sluis came off the bench to post a career high 17 points as well.
Cornerstone had little trouble with the Mustangs as they went over the 100-point mark against them for the fourth straight game. CU held a 23-point lead at halftime and increased it to as many as 48 on a dunk by Tyler Smith (JR/Zeeland, Mich.) and layups from Eric Readman (JR/Fenton, Mich.) and Lance Martin (SO/Kingman, Ariz.).
