GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Madonna defense stifled the Cornerstone offense, as the Golden Eagles fall 2-0 in their conference home opener. CU has now lost four consecutive matches after going 5-0-1 to start the year bringing their record to 5-4-1, 0-3-0 overall. CU will travel to Ann Arbor on Wednesday for an afternoon match against the Concordia Cardinals.
Game Flow…
The Golden Eagles found themselves on defense early and often as Madonna controlled much of the possession recording five first half shots. The Crusaders found the net in the 23' minute when Kelly Capoccia volleyed a cross by Alexis Bozinovski into the goal to take a 1-0 lead.
The second half was much of the same with MU continuing to control the ball adding an insurance goal in the 77' minute when Olivia Kitz found the net off a corner kick assist from Julia Henning. Keeper
Allison Snowden recorded six saves for the Golden Eagles while Madonna goalie Julia Stewart had four.
