LIMA, Ohio – Nationally ranked Northwestern Ohio got the better of the Golden Eagles today, scoring four second half goals to defeat CU 5-0. Cornerstone falls to 8-7-1, 3-6-0 WHAC, remaining in eighth place in the conference heading into the final regular season match of the year at Aquinas.
Game Flow…
The Cornerstone defense was hard at work early, as the high powered Northwestern Ohio offense came out firing with fifteen first half shots. CU keeper
Allison Snowden was excellent in net with nine saves, but the UNOH offense was able to find the goal in the 29' when Laura Blanchard scored to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Racers did not waste any time coming out of the break adding a second goal in the 48' when Hannah Baines scored off an assist by Camila Andersen. UNOH then was able to make it 3-0 when Andersen found the net herself in the 55'. Northwestern Ohio was then able to add two more goals to win by a final of 5-0.
News and Notes…
- The Golden Eagles have now been held scoreless in four of the five all-time appearances vs. the Racers.
- CU is now 1-4 all-time against the Racers.
- Cornerstone allowed a season high 27 shots in today's match.
