West’s two goals help women’s soccer end losing skid

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – Bria West scored a goal in each half as the senior helped the Golden Eagles end a 5-match losing skid with a 2-0 win over Indiana Tech. Allison Snowden pitched the shutout in goal as CU improves to 6-5-1 overall and 1-4-0 in the WHAC. CU will host Marygrove College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Game Flow…
Cornerstone, which had scored just one goal during their 5-match skid, got a break early on as they were awarded a penalty kick in which senior Bria West put it by the Tech keeper in the 16'. CU would outshoot the Warriors 7-5 in the opening 45 but neither team found the back of the net during play.

The Golden Eagles then added to their lead in the 65' when West took a Tori Johns pass in the middle and turned around and beat the keeper over her head. That would be the insurance goal as CU's defense stepped up big down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Inside the Box…
  • Cornerstone outshot Indiana Tech 12-10 (8-5 on goal)
  • CU had just two corner kicks on the night
  • Allison Snowden finished with five saves in net

What's on Tap?...
