ANN ARBOR, Mich. –
Kyle Steigenga scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the No. 8 ranked Golden Eagles posted an impressive 90-64 win at Concordia on Saturday afternoon. The victory lifts Cornerstone to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in the WHAC and they will resume play next Friday at the annual GR Sports Hall of Fame Classic at Hope College against Calvin College at 6 p.m.
Game Flow
The early part of the game was a defensive battle as the teams stayed tied at 7-7 from the 16:44 mark until
Kyle Steigenga gave CU a 9-7 lead with a layup at 13:26. That lead was one CU would continue to increase as the first half went on. Cornerstone got a late 3-point play from Steigenga to up their lead to 43-29 at the break.
The second half opened with CU scoring seven of the first 15 points to go up by 20 and they never looked back. Only three players finished in double-figures led by Steigenga's 27,
Cory Cox with 18 and
Riley Costen with 10. Seven different players had at least six points on the day.
