GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Flying Dutch outscored Cornerstone 20-10 in the opening quarter and 32-11 in the fourth quarter as Hope College posted a 92-58 win over the Golden Eagles. The loss drops CU to 4-4 on the year as they will resume play next Wednesday when they host Aquinas at 5:30 p.m.
Game Flow
Hope College came into Mol Arena and posted 39 points in the first half thanks to strong shooting that saw them go 6/14 from behind the arc and 13/34 from the field as they built a 13-point cushion. The Golden Eagles tried to stay close as they used inside scoring from
Cass Vredevoogd and outside scoring from
Jesse Sheridan.
The second half opened with Hope taking that 13-point lead and making it 18 in the first 2:10 to force CU into a timeout. After trailing by 20 with 6:18 to play, the Golden Eagles used a 10-3 spurt to cut it to 13 but that would be as close as they would get with Hope connecting on six more triples in the closing half to post the 34-point win.
