Sheridan records a career high 30 points in dominant win over Madonna

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sophomore Jesse Sheridan was clicking on all cylinders today, recording a career high 30 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in an 81-70 win over Madonna. The Golden Eagles have now won two WHAC games in a row to improve to 7-5 on the year and 5-2 in conference play. Cornerstone will continue their homestand next Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Lawrence Tech.

Game Flow
The Golden Eagles came out with great energy getting off to an early 8-0 run and not allowing the Crusaders to get on the board for the first 3:40 of the game. The three point shooting was a significant factor in the first half, as Jesse Sheridan went 4-5 from behind the arc for 24 first half points, while Mya Udell recorded one three in the period helping the team to a 47-32 halftime lead.

The shooting success slowed down for CU in the second half, but the defense continued to shine recording seven steals for the game, and holding Madonna scoreless behind the arc. After holding a 25-point lead at the end of the third quarter, MU was able to battle back to cut the final score to 81-70.

Quotable…
" We really wanted to win this game for Lizzy Otten (transferred in from Madonna), so we came out with great energy that led to good team basketball creating open shots for a lot of people. Overall it was a great team win." – Jesse Sheridan, sophomore guard
