GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Michael McLaughlin connected on five 3-pointers in the opening half in route to a game-high 17 points as he led the No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles to an 82-47 win over Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon. The victory is the 13
th straight for CU as they improve to 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the WHAC. CU will start a 5-game road stretch on Wednesday when they play at Siena Heights.
Game Flow
Cornerstone, which moved up to the No. 1 ranking in the country last week, opened the game on a 10-2 run highlighted by a pair of triples from
Michael McLaughlin. The lead slowly grew as the first half went on as the Blue Devils' zone defense kept the score low until a late run by CU gave them a 48-26 lead at the break.
The Golden Eagles then scored 13 of the first 15 points of the second half to up the margin to 33 after a jumper from
Kyle Steigenga and the rout was on. Every player for Cornerstone played at least nine minutes and nobody more than 26 as
Kyle Hayes came off the bench to post a career-high eight points and four rebounds.
