Lourdes and Madonna on tap for No. 2 Men’s Basketball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 2 ranked Men's Basketball team will bring a 10-game winning streak into the week as they travel to Lourdes on Wednesday before hosting Madonna on Saturday. Head coach Kim Elders and the Golden Eagles have just four games left prior to the Christmas holiday.

Scouting Lourdes – Head coach Josh Gibson (1st Year)
The Gray Wolves, under the direction of first-year head coach Josh Gibson, are 2-9 on the season but have been very competitive in their league games thus far. LU defeated UM-Dearborn the game after the Wolverines upset No. 3 Davenport and lost last week in OT against Madonna 79-78. Leading the offensive output in double-figure scoring is Levert Bristol (12.0) and Najeeb Johnson (11.6) while Desond Frazier has been hot as of late and is now averaging 9.6 points per game. As a team, LU ranks No. 43 in the NAIA in Total Steals while Malik Thurman is No. 19 in Total Blocks (16).

Scouting Madonna – Head coach Noel Emenhiser (8th year)
8th year head coach Noel Emenhiser and the Crusaders come into the week with an overall record of 3-6 while the are 2-4 in conference play. Madonna, which went 1-1 last week with a win over Lourdes and loss to Aquinas, has been led by senior Khalil Malone as well as juniors Austin Johnson and Chris Dierker. The Crusaders, who were picked to finish 7th in the WHAC preseason coaches poll, have a bulk of returners from a team that upset Cornerstone last season on a last-second 3-pointer by Malone.

Head coach Kim Elders is just two wins away from career victory No. 600. Elders enters the week 598-225 through 23 plus seasons at Cornerstone.
 
Cornerstone Surpasses 1,000 Win Mark
The Golden Eagles surpasses 1,000 wins in program history with their two wins over Ozarks and Huntington two weekends ago and they now stand at 1,003-652 all-time.
 
Milestone Watch
Michael McLaughlin enters the week needing only 106 points to join the 1,000 point club at Cornerstone. The senior needs just 66 assists to move into the Top-5 all-time at Cornerstone as well (429 - Dom Allen).
