GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team was announced Thursday afternoon and sophomore Kyle Steigenga (SO/Holland, Mich.) earned the nod after being voted in by Sports Information Directors from District 1 that includes 21 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The forward has led the Golden Eagles to a 21-5 overall record while averaging 20.2 points per game.

Kyle Steigenga, a sophomore Physical Education major, has been named 1st Team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The forward boasts a 3.92 GPA and has helped the men's basketball team to a No. 10 national ranking in 2015-16.

Steigenga is averaging 20.2 points per game and is pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game while ranking third in the NAIA in FG% at .651.

The 2015-16 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
