Men’s Basketball wins Top-25 showdown 95-73

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 9 ranked Golden Eagles played their tenth game of the season vs. a Top-25 foe and controlled it from start to finish as they posted a 95-73 win over No. 20 Indiana Tech. The win lifts Cornerstone to 23-5 on the season and 18-3 in the WHAC as they will take on No. 1 ranked Davenport on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Game Flow

The early parts of the opening half was back and forth as Indiana Tech stayed close with some 3-point shooting but once CU buckled down on defense, the lead for the Golden Eagles grew. After the Warriors took an 11-8 lead with 14:35 to play in the first half, CU went on an 8-0 run highlighted by points from four different players to open a 16-11 lead. That lead slowly got bigger throughout the remainder of the first half as Cornerstone went up 40-29 after a last second layup from Travis Wells (SR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.).

After a triple from Wells early in the second half gave CU a 15-point lead, the closest Indiana Tech got was within 13 for the remainder of the game as Cornerstone pulled ahead by as many as 23 with over six minutes to play. Four of the five starters reached double-figures for CU in the win.
