LAKELAND, Fla. – In a very close match throughout the afternoon, the Fire of Southeastern University had one more point than the Golden Eagles to post a 5-4 win. The loss for Cornerstone drops them to 9-4 on the season as they will close out their spring break trip on Thursday against Webber International.



 

Doubles Highlights – All three doubles matches went to the host Fire but the Golden Eagles easily could have won all three. CU fell 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1 and 8-5 at No. 2 as they saw a 3-0 deficit stare them in the face heading into singles.


Singles HighlightsAustin Hunt (SR/Odessa, Texas.) picked up a win at No. 2 to give CU a point and the Golden Eagles also got wins from Austin Hendrick (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) (5-7, 7-6, 10-8), Santiago Mackrey (JR/Balcarce, ARG) (6-3, 6-4) and Sam Ottosen (SO/Cairns, AUS) (6-2, 6-4). Andrew Son (SR/Keller, Texas) dropped a close match at No. 6 by the final of 7-6, 6-4 while Elijah Yi (SR/Dallas, Texas) fell at No. 1.
 

Next Up? Cornerstone will face Webber International in their final match of spring break on Thursday at 2 p.m.
