GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles faced off against cross-town rival Davenport today and the Panthers came away with a 6-3 win over Cornerstone. Davenport was receiving votes so were ranked just outside the top 25 in the nation. Cornerstone won #4 and #6 singles and #3 doubles.
Doubles Highlights – Santiago Mackrey / Andrew Son continued to do well winning their match 8-5 to give Cornerstone a point in doubles play.
Singles Highlights – Santiago Mackrey and Andrew Son finished perfect on the day with both winning their singles matches as well. Mackrey won 6-2, 6-3 over Haja Denise and Son won 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (11-9) over Kevin Slagh.
Next Up? Cornerstone will face #11 Aquinas on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Those matches will be played at Farmers Athletic Complex at Davenport University.
