GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's tennis team played their first home match on Saturday as they posted a 5-4 win over Judson University. CU won two out of the three doubles matches and then split the singles' play as they improve to 2-0 on the season. Cornerstone will resume action at the ITA Regional next Thursday.
Doubles Highlights: Three very balanced matches saw CU take points on the top court behind
Austin Hendrick and
Sam Ottosen (8-6) as well as on court No. 2 as
Francisco Fernandez and
Marc Lerch won 8-4.
Singles Highlights: In some close matches, Cornerstone pulled out three wins to take the overall match as
Sam Riley won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, Hendrick won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 and Fernandez won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2.
Next Up? Cornerstone will play in the annual ITA Regional Tournament that is being hosted by Davenport next Thursday through Saturday.
