Two first half goals doom Women’s Soccer at Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – Two first half goals by crosstown rival Davenport cause the Golden Eagles to drop their third straight match 2-0. Cornerstone holds a 5-3-1, 0-2-0 record as they get set to return to home turf on Saturday for a WHAC match against Madonna.

Game Flow…
The undefeated Panthers got off to a fast start when leading scorer Shameeka Fishley stole the ball from the CU defense and turned to find the net for her eighth goal of the year in the 16' minute of the match. Davenport then added to the lead just four minutes later when Roheema Bennett scored off a free kick pass by Juli Knapp that bounced over keeper Allison Snowden's head to give DU a 2-0 lead at the half.

Cornerstone stopped the bleeding in the second half, but the Golden Eagle offense staggered throughout the match recording just six shots. Davenport was able to put up 23 shots on the match and find two goals to give the Panthers a 2-0 win.

  • The Golden Eagles have are now 0-3 on the road this season and 5-0-1 at home.
  • Cornerstone is now 8-4-4 all-time against the rival Panthers.
  • CU has been shutout in all four losses to Davenport in the matchups history.
