GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone started the season with 26 shots with 19 of those on goal but none of them found the back of the net as the Golden Eagles played to a 0-0 draw with visiting Saint Xavier (Ill.). Allison Snowden finished with three saves in net as she helped CU move to 0-0-1 on the year with a home date with Saint Francis (Ill.) set for Monday at 1 p.m.
Game Flow…
The shots were not hard to come by for Cornerstone tonight as they posted 17 of their 26 in the first half in which they created numerous opportunities. Shots from multiple players were saved by the SXU keeper, Alex Perry as the Cougars kept CU off the scoreboard after 45 minutes.
SXU had one good chance early in the second half but a nice save by Allison Snowden kept the match scoreless. CU then maintained their pressure but could not find the back of the net eventually seeing the match go into OT. Late in the second overtime, SXU had a great chance off a corner but a diving save from Snowden kept the Cougars off the board
