LIMA, Ohio – Coming off their first loss since late October, the No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles picked up an impressive 17-point road win at No. 21 Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday night. The win lifts Cornerstone to 17-2 on the year and 10-1 in league play as they will play their first home game since mid-December on Saturday when they host Concordia at 3 p.m.
Game Flow
It was a back and forth game as their were six lead changed in the first seven minutes of the but the Golden Eagles took a 12-10 lead on a
Cory Cox layup and the senior followed with a triple on the next possession to put CU up 15-10 and they never trailed again. The lead slowly grew for the remainder of the first half as a late 6-point run put Cornerstone up 12 (38-26) at halftime.
The second half saw the lead hover between seven and 15 points for the first 12-13 minutes as the CU offense was just too much for the Racers.
Kyle Steigenga posted 23 of his game-high 28 points in the second half while
Cory Cox went for 20 points overall. The total for the senior sharp-shooter puts him over 1,500 for his career.
