McLaughlin goes over 1,000 career points in 86-63 win at Marygrove

DETROIT, Mich. – Senior Michael McLaughlin scored nine points tonight to put him over 1,000 career points as he helped the No. 1 ranked Golden Eagles to an 86-63 win over Marygrove. The victory is the third straight for CU as they improve to 19-2 overall and 12-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will host #RV Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Game Flow
Cornerstone raced out to a big lead in the opening minutes as they scored the first seven points, forcing the Mustangs into a timeout. That lead continued to grow and CU found themselves up by as many as 18 in the opening half. Midway through came the milestone shot for McLaughlin as the senior took a pass from Riley Costen and buried a triple from the right wing. After tonight, Michael now has 1,006 points and is the 41st player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points,

Marygrove fought back before the half and had the margin down to just 13 (47-34) and they carried that late half momentum into the second half as they trailed by only five (56-51) with 11:39 to play. A few possessions later, Cornerstone got three free-throws to go up 59-51 and it ignited a 22-8 run that saw CU extend the lead to over 20.
