DEARBORN, Mich. – The Golden Eagles rebounded from back-to-back losses with a 70-61 road victory over the Wolverines of UM-Dearborn tonight with guard
Jesse Sheridan leading the way with 17 points and six assists on the night. The win brings Cornerstone back above .500 on the year at 9-8 and improves their conference record to 6-3. Cornerstone will continue a three game conference road trip at No. 7 Davenport on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Game Flow
After a sluggish start, Cornerstone was able to use a 13-4 run, led by six points from
Taylor Richards that gave CU the 23-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Eagles were able to maintain a double-digit lead throughout the second quarter with effective jump shooting by
Jesse Sheridan, who recorded nine points in the half. CU was able to shoot 4-8 from behind the arc in the first half and 40.6% from the field.
UM-Dearborn would just not go away though, hanging around in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to eight with 5:20 left in the period. Cornerstone responded bringing their lead to a game high 14 points to begin the fourth quarter, led by the strong second half performance from
Shaina DenBesten who put in seven points and five rebounds. Although the Wolverines again fought back to cut it to single digits in the fourth, but ran out of time making the final score 70-61.
