GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a 15-2 Golden Eagle run to begin the game, Cornerstone could not hold on to the lead as the Panthers outscored CU 51-39 in the second half to win 82-76. Cornerstone now drops to 9-9 on the year and 6-4 in conference play this season, as they will look to rebound at Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, January 11.
Game Flow
The Golden Eagles came out firing, starting the game on a 15-2 run and holding Davenport to just 23.1% (3-13) from the field in the first quarter.
Lizzy Otten hit a pair of threes in the run that gave CU the 18-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. After the Panthers began the second quarter with a three, CU added another 7-0 run that saw five points from
Jesse Sheridan, giving Cornerstone a game high 17 point lead. Davenport then regrouped after a timeout, and used a press defense to create 10 Cornerstone turnovers that led to a DU 12-4 run of their own, cutting the CU lead to six at half.
Davenport continued their offensive success in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Eagles 28-14, using the inside presence and 19 total points from Jenna Falkenburg to take over 59-51. The Panthers then brought their lead up to 15 points in the fourth quarter, but CU was not done yet, as
Jesse Sheridan scored six points in the final 1:20 to cut the final score to just a six point deficit at 82-76.

Lizzy Otten combined for 46 of the Golden Eagle 76 points, each scoring 23 in the game. 23 is a new career high for Otten.
