Upperclassmen lead Women’s Soccer to a 3-0 win at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – A trio of upperclassmen scored to help the Golden Eagles to their first win in October, 3-0 over Lourdes. Tori Johns, Kelsey Gensler, and Savannah Petty each found the net in a win that proves crucial for Cornerstone's playoff hopes, moving them to 7-5-2, 3-3-1 WHAC on the year. CU has just three regular season games remaining, with their next matchup being vs. defending national champion no. 3 Northwestern Ohio this Saturday.   
 
Game Flow...
Cornerstone got into a good groove early in this one, finding quality shots within just the first few minutes of the match. CU was able to capitalize on their early opportunities in the 34th minute on a beautiful dribbling display by Tori Johns, who then buried the ball in the back of the net from just outside the 18-yard box. The Golden Eagles took the 1-0 lead into the half.
 
An insurance goal was then added in the 68th minute, when senior Kelsey Gensler scored her first goal of the season on an assist by fellow senior Morgan Haddad to give CU the 2-0 lead. Savannah Petty then got in on the action with a goal off a free kick, tallying her second of the year. Mikayla Johnson was solid in net; recording five saves in the 3-0 victory.
